The Overbearing Feeling Of Fatigue

We all fell the same fatigue after having a great meal for lunch supper or breakfast. We have all gone through that annoying moment of our lives whether it be at work, school, or out with some friends where we could just lay our heads down for a quick nap. That dreadful moment when our eyelids are so heavy that we wish we could take some scotch tape in order to tape our eyes open! It is a very frustrating feeling especially when you are found in the presence of your colleagues or boss and have to maintain a good impression but cannot for the life of you keep those eyes opened!! What would you do in this circumstance? How could you avoid the situation? What to do? Why Do We Get Tired After Heavy Meals?


Well, to begin with, let us ask ourselves why we get so tired after eating? Why that feeling after such a good meal? Food is supposed to be a source of energy to your body and mind, why does it feel as though it is the contrary? The explanation is actually quite simple. When you eat a meal with too much glycemic-based foods, you do what is called a Glycemic Peak. Blood sugar is also commonly referred to as “sugar” or “glucose” in the blood system. When a meal is unbalanced and there is way too much of those sugars in the body for a short period of time its massive and rapid absorption will lead to an increase in blood sugar. In order to stabilize the sugar level, the body will secrete an enzyme, which will then cause a decrease in sugar levels. It is this rapid decrease, which is the cause of your fatigue as your energy level goes from an extreme high to an extreme low in a very short period of time.

 

Long Term Issues Caused

 

The repetition of the glycemic peaks and the sudden decrease thereof will eventually cause problems within the body syste.  It  may in the long run be the precursors of type two diabetes,. It can also manifest itself by small hollows during the day: these small cravings will eventually expose you to risks of gaining weight!
