  1. Beach – The beach can be one of the least expensive outings you can do. Now, if you live many hours away from the beach, getting there for a day trip could of course be a problem. That said those close enough to a beach may well want to take advantage of it. The beach can be quite relaxing with the sand, water, sunsets and more. If you have children, the beach is also a good idea. What kid would not want to play in the sand and spend time in the water? Any beach excursions should include suntan lotion, proper footwear and drinking water.

  1. Theme park – When was the last time you were at a theme park? In the event it has been a long time, what about visiting Disneyland, Disney World or many others? If you have worries money could get in the way, look for deals. For example, you can locate lower prices on Disneyland tickets online. When you do, your fears of spending too much for a day of fun should go out the window.

  1. Mountains – Does a day trip into the mountains sound like fun? If so, chances are you have such locations not all that far from where you live. A day trip there can be both adventurous and relaxing. On the adventure side, do some hiking or even rock climbing. If you want a little more relaxation, how about finding a nearby lake and casting a fishing line for part or all the day? No matter where you might journey into the mountains, always do it with safety in mind. This means letting one reliable know where you plan to go and estimated arrival time back home. In doing this, you can make sure someone knows of your plans should you not return as scheduled. Also take with you your cell phone, bottled water, compass and comfortable footwear.

  1. Family – Last, go visit a relative you have not seen in a while. If they only live a few hours from you, the two of you can make a day of it. Getting caught up on old times with a family member can be great for different reasons. First, you can relive some fun times being part of the same family. Second, it is nice to have others not too far from you to share your troubles with when needed. A day spent together could give you the opportunity to clear your mind. Best of all, it is someone listening to you who cares about you.
