Disadvantages of being an HR intern
As with everything there are two sides to every coin. There are a few disadvantages to being an HR intern
Being an assistant
When you are an HR intern, you are treated as an assistant. You are made to run errands, and you need to get coffee for people, you even have a photocopy and make duplicates or file or organize cupboards and things and do other menial tasks which others are not willing to do. This is because you are seen more of an assistant than as one with real value.
When you are an intern, you hardly get to learn anything, and that is why you need to choose a company which allows you to grow and learn rather than one which treats you as a slave or as a person of no or little value.
Earning potential
When you are an HR intern, you also have low earning potential, and you do not get competitive wages. Some companies and organizations only offer out of pocket expenses, and some do not even offer any stipend or salary or wages. Therefore before joining as an intern, you must evaluate and see which one offers you a more competitive salary.
Job market
Some internships fail at helping the intern in securing a full-time job or career. These are considered and seen as a waste of time, and therefore, one needs to be careful and only choose an internship which will help them attract a full-time career.
