Trousseau may be a French word and might now sound familiar to many, but its concept has lived in Indian tradition for quite some time. A Trousseau is nothing but a trunk full of essentials like clothes, cosmetics, footwear, etc. which the bride takes along with the happy wedding day wishes to her new house. All these things help her kickstart her journey as a wife. A bride can add whatever she wants in her trousseau but there are certain things which can be important for her. So, we have prepared a checklist of all the essential for the Bridal Trousseau.
Traditional Indian Wears
To add the traditional Indian wears to your trousseau means adding sarees, elegant suits, kurtas, and Indo-westerns. As it is the bridal trousseau, some of the attires should definitely be of some heavy work. But we suggest buying light, semi-formal, and elegant Indian wears in which you feel more comfortable. Buy a lot of different blouses which you can mix and match with your different sarees. But the suits which are easier for you to carry and you can wear them daily. Take along at least 5-6 different kurtas which you can wear either with palazzo or with jeans as this will add a little western loo to the traditional one.
Casual Wears
Brides often think of all the traditional wears when they set their trousseau and forget to keep the casual wears. Casual wears are essential for daily life. You can’t wear heavy suits and saree everywhere. So, pack some -T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Jeans, Shorts, Jumpsuit, and Dresses. Make sure you don’t overspend, rather buy them during a sale and save a little.
Night Wears
Ideally, there should be 3-4 different type of night wears that you should buy for your trousseau. Get yourself, a few nights dress in soft fabric, a pair of shorts and t-shirt and pajamas and t-shirts.
Daily Essentials
You must take along all the skin essentials and daily care products with you. Buy all the face wash, creams, face oils, scrubs, etc. whatever you feel is important for your skin. You must also keep your bathing and hygiene essentials like soap, toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo, sanitary napkins, etc.
Makeup
Everyone has their own favorite make up brands as not every brand needs to suit everybody’s skin. So, make sure to buy all the products you use. They can range from everything like foundation, primer, eye shadow, mascara, kajal, lipstick, eyebrow pencils, to everything else.
Jewellery and Accessories
Though you would be taking along your gold and diamond jewellery along with you, that’s not what you can wear daily. You must also take along some artificial and silver jewellery with which you can wear daily. Try buying jewellery that can easily be matched with your outfits and looks good.
Footwear
For buying any footwear always keep in mind you shouldn’t compromise with the quality at all. The better the quality, the longer they survive. You should buy different variety of footwears like flats, heels, boots, shoes and make sure to buy the most comfortable ones!
