Imagination is such a tool that can give life to even a non-living thing and drive the reader or observer in the same direction to think, perceive and enjoy in the same manner.
Just like toddlers run their imagination to understand the world through their nursery rhymes, we as adults have authors and poets to serve the purpose.
What’s in a name?
Some names have not been liked or encouraged by the present generation due to the incidences associated with them. Example: The names ‘Annabelle’ or ‘Sabrina’ have links to horror or haunted incidents, and hence are not preferred as names for girls of any age group.
Similar can be the case for a rose by another name who may not be believing or ignoring the bad or ill fortune associated with the name.
In a similar case, a very over protective mother to a five year old advised her not to be friends with some particular names. The toddler as obedient as she was, listened to her mother and observed that it was her neighbor’s crayon set that got stolen during their recess. Furthermore it was found that the crayon box was found in the classroom itself, inside the bag of the girl her mom had warned of.
Poets and their creativity
Research and observation reads that poets describe elements like feelings, nature or even animals in such a form that the reader or researcher tends to believe that there exists life in them. One such referral can be towards hills like white elephants. Here either the hills maybe covered in snow and enormous in size to fit in to the reference. Or the hills may have a royal or majestic history of them just like white elephants in Asian folklore.
Choose to be a warrior or a ruler
It is observed that books or literature tend to influence a person’s actions. These works could have been derived from fiction or reality depending upon the author’s imagination. One such piece of art can be of kubla khan which actually dates back to the era of the Mongols. This literature piece describes the good and bad sides of being a ruler or owning a empire. What is the effect of being a ruler on a person’s behavior and attitude is something to look for. As these factors determine the thought process and mentality of a person. They may either be a warrior or a ruler.
Rulers are less famous than warriors though. While the Indian Army sings away to the sacrifices made by various soldiers, others might think of frontier warriors who sacrificed their lives in freedom battles in various parts of the world.
There may be a theory that none may believe on the existence of characters mentioned in poetry or thesis, but the idea and values they convey is the exact fruit to be extracted. Poets and authors though might have painted this world with their imagination, but this imagination has entertained us throughout our school lives. And some of these fiction works have eventually paved their path into being famous grandma stories throughout generations.
Irrespective of age and culture, it generally is human tendency to believe in whatever they read. It does not matter where the text comes from, imagination comes from any source.
