A live in carer does just that. They live in the client’s home and look after them. You have a set amount of time in which to do your job before you move on to the next client. However, with live in care you will have more time to get to know your client, build up a good level of trust and develop a relationship that can be beneficial to both of you. With many care roles there is simply never enough time, this can be a highly pressurised sector to work in where the main priority is speed and efficiency and you only have time to do exactly what is needed and nothing more. You will often find yourself rushing from one person to another, constantly on your feet and in a position where is possible to miss something important. As a live-in carer you will have more time to do your job, more time to actually care for the person you are looking after. With more time to do the job you want to you will get a much greater sense of job satisfaction.
More variety
As alive in carer there is likely to be far more variety in the day to day tasks that you undertake. In a residential care setting your role will most likely entail helping someone to get washed and dressed, and then helping them with their meals. With most in-home care there is more scope for variety, you might take your client to appointments, simply go for a walk or even assist them with some shopping – and all of this will be done at a nice pace that doesn’t mean rushing.
