Careers in Gaming: What’s the Best?

Time was that if a parent asked a child what they wanted to do when they were older and the child suggested that they wanted to play video games, they would be instantly dismissed and told to think of a real job. It is a view that some still surprisingly have today, but it is clear to see how wrong the view is. In fact, those parents who asserted such claims will probably be ruing their words today, considering how lucrative a career in gaming can be. The industry is the leading entertainment industry, disrupting long-reigning leaders such as movies and music. Considering its popularity, it should be evident why people are now able to make a career in gaming.

This was something that could bever have been envisioned at the time of the first release of a video game. The only real career someone could have is one that involves making the game, such as a game artist or developer. When this is compared to today, it is easy to see just how many different options are open to those who enjoy video games. While many would like to get involved with the creative process itself. Many more would perhaps enjoy simply playing them for a living, and the good thing about this is that they can do exactly that.

There are three different ways to have a career in playing video games, but they are suitable for different kinds of people and whatever one a person chooses will depend on their attitude towards games and their skill. The same process is present when people go to the casino, some great games can be played here, as what people will decide to play depends on their skill in the game and how much they enjoy playing it.

One career path that people may choose to go down is playing games competitively. This is an option that will appeal to those who are naturally gifted at playing video games and can consider themselves among the best in the world. If picked up by a big team, then playing video games can feasibly be a great job as it can pay players staggering amounts. One only must look at some of the prize pools for these virtual tournaments to get an idea of how lucrative they can be.

Two more career paths that payers can choose is content creation and streaming. Really, these are two sides of the same coin as content creation involves creating and editing videos whereas streaming is live in front of an audience. This will appeal to those players who play games casually for fun as it is not as difficult as playing competitively. Content creators would normally use YouTube whereas streamers prefer Twitch. While YouTube can allow people to earn serious money, Twitch is a more social experience as interactivity is higher than what exists on YouTube.

There are many paths to playing games for a living. Those who are talented at them should play professionally, while those who play them for fun and do not want to compete should choose either Twitch or YouTube, depending on what they want from either of them.
